State of Becoming, a solo exhibition by visual artist Han Qin in collaboration with the Contemporary Art Practice Lab (CAPL), was presented at the MEMOR Museum in New York from May 4 to May 17, 2026. This exhibition portrayed an “unfinished studio” full of a recollection of past memories, current processes, and future ideas.

Qin’s studio was displayed in a half completed state with her silk painting, video projection, cyanotype and printmaking on display, which showed viewers shifts in her identity and the adversities she went through into a physical form, which shows her connection to the world. Her work was inspired by how individuals are impacted immigration and how it shapes identity and growth.

MEMOR is an exhibition after Qin’s solo exhibition Little Images at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, where Han explores the concept of “home” as both a refuge and a restraint. This exhibition serves as a continuation, where Han transforms the home into a state of continuous flux, an active studio site with finished works, studio conditions, and workshops. Artworks embody the present moment and the space allows to release inner tensions.

On May 9, the Cyanotype Workshop–Tracing Experience, invited guests to bring personal items and use cyanotype to bring them to life. What functioned as a documentation of events showcased how people and their ideas evolve throughout their lives. In this busy world, we tend to forget where we came from and what our purpose is. This workshop allowed for a shared sense of reflection, embodiment, and collaboration with other participants.
